| Fall is here and chill of fall will be upon us this week. Please check your chimney and woodstove before the beginning of the heating season. Be sure the flu opens and is clear. Clean your chimney before using a woodstove. DO NOT DISPOSE OF ASHES IN A PAPER BAG OR CARDBOARD BOX.
The ashes from a woodstove can remain active for several days. Unfortunately, over the years, the Libertytown Volunteer Fire Department and neighboring fire companies have responded to house fires that were caused by the improper disposal of woodstove or fireplace ashes.
