On October 8 1871, the Great Chicago Fire occurred destroying essentially the entire City of Chicago. On the same day, one of the largest and deadliest forest fires in our nation's history occurred in the forest that surrounded Pestigo, Wisconsin.
The Libertytown Volunteer Fire Department encourages fire and life safety year round. As cold weather approaches we have these fire and life safety suggestions to have a safe fall and winter season:

With cold weather coming, be sure to check your chimney.

Make sure your smoke alarms are functional and replace any smoke alarm over10 years old.

If you do not have a CO detector, purchase one to protect your family from this hidden killer.

Have your oil burner, propane furnace or other heating appliances check before winter cold sets in.

FIRE and LIFE SAFETY IS EVERYONE"S JOB!!
